Avon Cosmetics European Headquarters Consolidation Brings Benefits in Efficiency and Employee Engagement

Northampton, UK

The Challenge

To design an efficient and secure building that promotes and improves a cohesive work culture.

The Design Solution

Global cosmetics giant Avon Cosmetics’ new UK headquarters is a symbol of its status as a major local employer and of the wider regeneration of its industrial setting. Designed to reflect Avon’s status as the world’s largest direct-selling beauty company, the new facility on the banks of the Nene River underpins Avon’s efforts to attract, retain and motivate its employees. The building consolidates several previously disparate buildings into a singular office that is sustainable and supports flexible, innovative and modern working practices. Its five stories are arranged in two wings around a central atrium that harvests daylight and serves as an interactive space where employees enjoy amenities such as a restaurant, a cafe, a history room, the company shop and conference and training suites.

The Design Impact

The new building has enhanced the Avon brand in Europe and significantly improved employee morale and engagement.
